Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome.

I bet most of you haven’t heard of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. What the heck is this? Unfortunately it’s not the flu. Please anyone that is suffering from this or if you are a caregiver for someone that has this please contact us. There is very little known about this devastating condition and we could not locate a doctor in the Nashville area that was a specialist in this condition. Take them to the Mayo Clinic? You got to be kidding. You have to find a doctor. You can’t just call and get an appointment. How many trips can you make to Atlanta or Minneapolis? Who has the money? Why does a hospital tell you “We’re Stumped”? My first question was, “is there someone in Nashville that has some knowledge about Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome?”.

Cyclic vomiting syndrome
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cyclic vomiting syndrome (US English) or cyclical vomiting syndrome (UK English) (CVS) is a chronic functional condition of unknown etiology characterized by recurring attacks of intense nausea, vomiting, and sometimes abdominal pain, headaches, or migraines. CVS typically develops during childhood, usually between ages 3 and 7; although it often remits during adolescence, it can persist into adult life.

Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association

The Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association (CVSA) serves the needs of cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) sufferers, their families and professional care givers by raising awareness and providing education and support to those affected by cyclic vomiting, abdominal migraine and related disorders while advocating for and funding research.

Established in 1993, CVSA has grown from a handful of interested parents and professionals, into a network that includes over 40 medical advisors and volunteers serving in the U.S. and Canada, as well as over 30 other countries worldwide.

The association’s primary focus is working toward a cure, through the support of several promising research initiatives, and supporting its members by strengthening communications and offering a wide range of resources for education and support.
